On 27-29 February, APT facilitated a training workshop for staff of the Nepali National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and civil society organisations in Biratnagar, Nepal. The workshop focused on the theory and practice of preventive monitoring and included two trial monitoring visits to local police stations.

This was the third such training held in Nepal by APT since 2008. It was coorganised with Advocacy Forum, NHRC and OHCHR. In a series of meetings with relevant stakeholders, APT also provided its expertise on the criminalisation of torture and worldwide practices with regard to OPCAT ratification and designation.
