Our governance bodies

Sara Lopez serves as APT Senior Adviser, Latin America, based in Mexico City. Sara supports the implementation of the APT’s projects in Latin America, driving efforts in capacity building, research and stakeholder engagement - especially with Preventive Mechanisms, National Human Rights Institutions and legal actors. Sara has worked at grassroots non-governmental organisations and in the government as a legislative analyst, researcher and criminal attorney. She has also undertaken international consulting roles, offering expertise on indicators, conducting research on access to justice and prison reform, and providing translation services for global NGOs. Sara holds a master’s degree in human rights and specialises in anti-discrimination law and legal education. She speaks Spanish and English.
