We have a long-standing and productive relationship with the National Preventive Mechanism of Paraguay. Currently, the focus is on strengthening the NPM’s reporting and recommendations to allow it to effectively foster change in detention centres. The APT is also actively advocating for the implementation of safeguards in the first hours of custody within the Paraguayan criminal justice system.
