This report marks the end of a three-year project entitled “A Continent United Against Torture”, a collaboration between the Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) and the APT, which sought to strengthen the role and capacity of African NHRIs to prevent torture.

The publication is based on a questionnaire sent to all participating NHRIs and reflects the structure of the questionnaire. The responses of each NHRI are presented on one page, in alphabetical order by country. It outlines in which project activities they took part over the three-year period and the impact it has had on their work to prevent torture.

The publication includes reports from Algeria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Comoros, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Togo, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
