NGO coalition on Swiss UPR process: “Lack of courage”

The Swiss NGO Platform Human Rights, of which the APT is a member, has expressed its satisfaction with the process leading up to the second Universal Period Review by the UN Human Rights Council.

The NGO platform welcomes that most of the recommendations made by States were accepted by Switzerland, including on the creation of a national human rights institution. However, the NGO group criticises in a press release what it calls a lack of courage from the Swiss government, for not accepting recommendations on strengthening the legal protection against discrimination and on criminalisation of torture.
