OPCAT Status
UNCAT ratification Date
The OPCAT has been discussed for several years in Indonesia and several organisations and institutions are committed to ratification and implementation in the near future. Five national institutions, namely the National Human Rights Commission of Indonesia (KOMNAS HAM), Ombudsman, Children Protection Commission, Women Commission and the Witness and Victims Protection Agency are leading this national initiative. In 2017, the government of Indonesia reiterated their commitment to consider ratification during their Universal Periodic Review.
