Turkey - OPCAT Situation

Turkey ratified the OPCAT in 2011 and in January 2014 the government decided to designate the recently established National Human Rights Institution of Turkey as National Preventive Mechanism by means of a cabinet decree published in the Official Gazette on 28 January 2014.

The SPT visited Turkey in October 2015. The visit report has not been made public yet.

The SPT member Malcolm Evans is the SPT Focal Point for Turkey.
