Slovenia - OPCAT Situation

Updated 30.05.2013

Slovenia ratified the OPCAT in 2007 and made a formal declaration under Article 17, designating its national human rights institution (Human Rights Ombudsperson’s Office) as its NPM. The declaration made also foresees a formal cooperation between its Human Rights Ombudsperson’s Office and civil society organisations in the implementation of the NPM mandate.

The Human Rights Ombudsperson’s Office became operational in 2007, and carries out its mandate as NPM in formal cooperation with five national NGOs.

The SPT member Aisha Shujune Muhammad is the SPT Focal Point for Slovenia.
