Kyrgyzstan - OPCAT Situation

Kyrgyzstan ratified the OPCAT in 2008 and established a new specialised institution dedicated to torture prevention as NPM: the Centre for Monitoring and Analysis, together with the Coordination Council for the Prevention of Torture.

The legislation establishing this new institution was adopted in July 2012.

The Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture visited Kyrgyzstan in September 2012 and they were encouraged to make the report public.

The SPT member Arman Danielyan is the SPT Focal Point for Kyrgyzstan.
