Burkina Faso - OPCAT Situation

Burkina Faso ratified the OPCAT in July 2010.

In May 2014, the national parliament adopted a law criminalising torture and creating a new specialised institution as the NPM, the National Observer for the Prevention of Torture. The NPM is not operational yet as the implementing decree providing for its structure, composition and functioning is still pending.

The SPT member Catherine Paulet is the SPT Focal Point for Burkina Faso.
